Ethical Use of AI
Machine learning and artificial intelligence show great promise for humans in both thought and action But AI has no morality or vision. It is essentially just math and statistics. Both model creators and end users are responsible for the consequence of AI on others. Here are some of the principles wks follows for beneficial use of AI.
We consider the effects of our work. We seek to avoid propagating social bias or other harms. Though we may not control how a tool is used, we can observe how they are used and act accordingly.
We recognize others' rights and give credit where it's due. If a model draws on the authorship of others, give attribution. Also, people have a right to privacy so protect their data.
We are transparent about intended use. Users need to have some insight into what a model is good for and what it's not, so they can use it responsibly.
We advocate human-in-the-loop decision-making as an essential way to ensure responsible use and accountability.
